BLOGS:  I have finally come to the conclusion that I don't have time to  keep up  a blog.  It takes up entirely way too much time for me to think of things to say, to set up the page everytime I want to say something, and is just too much to bother with.  I'm having a hard time keeping up with posting picture and videos on the main site as it is.  I'm thinking that maybe I should do away with the blog and just keep this Cat Chat page to add little commentaries that I feel I want to express.  I'm sorry that there will be no way that anyone can make a comment to anything I post as was possible in the blog format.  I suppose if anyone feels strongly enough about anything I write, they can feel free to send their comments  via the Contact Us page.

Tonight is the night!!!  The night we've been waiting for, dreading, anticipating, excited for~however everyone is feeling...this is it.  This night can either send us home with tears of happiness or tears of despair.  But I have resigned myself to the fact that no matter what happens, we are great!!  Our boys have definitely made tremendous strides over last year's season and that in itself has been rewarding to see.  So..I don't have much time to post right now so all I can say is hold on to your helmets Lewistown cuz ready or not, here we come!!  Go CATS!!!~Les

BENEFIT FOR

Shayley Norris

of London Mills, the 22 yr. old daughter of Tab & Leslie Hillier ( Fairview ) and Jon Norris (London Mills).  Shayley is a 2006 graduate of Spoon River Valley High School , a 2009 graduate of Spoon River College , and is currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising at WIU.  Shayley was recently hospitalized due to a life threatening illness in which she was found to have Pulmonary Embolisms (blood clots which lodge in the lungs).  She is very lucky--the mortality rate for a pulmonary embolism is between 30% and 60%--Shayley had 3 of them.  She has since undergone genetic testing and has been diagnosed with a genetic disorder known as Anti-thrombin III Deficiency—a rare. hereditary disorder that generally comes to light when a patient suffers venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.  Since her blood is deficient in the Anti-thrombin III Factor, she is at increased risk to develop blood clots for the rest of her life. She is now receiving Coumadin, a medication to thin her blood and prevent further clots.

Shayley currently does not have insurance to cover her medical expenses and does not qualify for a medical card.  She has qualified for an OSF Charity to help with some of her hospital expenses, but this does not cover all of her past and future medical expenses related to her diagnosis.  She has still been unable to return to work at her part time job as her past job duties place her at high risk for injury related to the high dose of Coumadin she is taking.  Also, her lungs have not fully recovered from the compromise related to having the embolisms.

It is recommended that she sees a Hematologist for her disorder, yet another medical expense.

We are having a Benefit for Shayley to help defray some of her medical expenses.  The Benefit will be:

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

3 p.m. - ??

@ The American Legion

16 N. Cone St.

Farmington, IL

We will be serving Homemade Chicken & Noodles, Mashed Potatoes, Bread, & choice of Tea or Lemonade.  The cost for the meal is $7.00 for Adults, $5.00 for 12 & under, & Free for 3 & under.  We will also be having a Bake Sale, multiple Raffles, and Bobbing For Apples.  There will be 50/50 Drawings throughout the evening as well.

The Legion also has a full bar.  **Please note that expenses for bar drinks are not included in the Benefit and the responsibility of each individual ordering from the bar.

The evening will conclude with Karaoke by Chris G.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR A GREAT MEAL AND A FUN-FILLED EVENING WHILE HELPING SHAYLEY.

THIS IS NOT ONLY A BENEFIT TO HELP HER WITH HER MEDICAL EXPENSES, BUT AN OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE THE GIFT OF LIFE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN HER AGAIN!!

Sincerely,

The Family of Shayley Norris

**In order to help Shayley and others affected by blood clotting disorders, a portion of the monies collected will be donated to The Anti-Thrombus Foundation, an organization which aids in the research and treatment of clotting disorders.

Happy Birthday Bryan!!  Today is my son Bryan's 28th Birthday.  Hard to believe that 28 years ago, I was holding him in my arms as a tiny little guy.
He was a Valley Viking.  His class was one of the last to be Valley Vikings in regards to High School Sports.  Here's a couple of pictures of him as a Viking.  I'm unsure when the Football one was taken but I'm thinking it was his Freshman year, which would have been 1996.  The one where he is wearing his baseball jersey was taken as one of his Senior pictures.  He was in the class that graduated in 2000!!!

Doesn't he look like Elijah in this one???

Happy Birthday Son!!!
